چکیده
Semi-continuous production of xanthan gum using self-immobilized Xanthomonas campestris cells in biofilm reactors was studied. Fermentation carried out two different designs reactor equipped with a) stainless-steel support (SSS) and b) polyethylene (PES). performed three cycles refreshing the media at beginning each: cycle 1, 0−27 h; 2, 27−54 3, 54–78.5 h. Results showed that glucose consumption pH reduction PES faster compared to SSS reactor. Scanning electron microscopy capable immobilize more during growth X. campestris. The maximum concentration obtained after 27 h (3.47 ± 0.71 g/L), while 78.5 (3.21 0.68 g/L). Thermal stability analysis differential scanning calorimetry presence fractures attributed dehydration degradation polymer. thermogram represented both endothermal exothermal behaviour Furthermore, functional groups molecular structure produced this study evaluated Fourier transform infrared spectrometry also proton nuclear magnetic resonance. addition, surface tension (0.2 %, w/v) solution a range 52.16–56.5 mN/m. Rheological G′ values were higher than G″ all frequencies demonstrating relatively high elasticity gum.

Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide that is widely used as stabilizer and thickener with many industrial applications in food industry. Our aim was to estimate the ability of Xanthomonas campestris ATCC 13951 for the production of xanthan gum by using whey as a growth medium, a by-product of dairy industry. X. campestris ATCC 13951 has been studied in batch cultures using a complex medium for the d...
متن کاملXanthan gum production by Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris 8004 using cassava starch as carbon source
Cassava starch is a main renewable bio-resource with low price and mass production in Guangxi, China. It was used as carbon source in growing Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris 8004 (Xcc 8004) for xanthan gum production in this study. The xanthan gum yield of gelatinized cassava starch was higher than that of raw cassava starch; the maximal reducing sugar and amylase activity reached 14.30 g...

Xanthan gum is an extracellular hetero polysaccharides of many industrial applications and produced by Xanthomonas campestris. This biopolymer is produced as extracellular product in submerged fermentation system. The production of xanthan was influenced by the concentration in glucose in medium. The maximal volumetric production of 17.9 g L was obtained in 80 g L glucose culture in shake flask...
متن کاملMutagenesis of Xanthomonas campestris and Selection of Strains with Enhanced Xanthan Production
Xanthan gum is a microbial polysaccharide of great commercial importance as it has unusual rheological properties in solution and consequent range of applications. In this study, a series of mutants were isolated from Xanthomonas campestris PTCC 1473 by ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis. The polysaccharide yield of one mutant, XC1473E2, was 30% better than that of the parent strain. It also sh...
متن کاملUse of Date Syrup as Agricultural Waste for Xanthan Production by Xanthomonas campestris
Xanthomonas campestris was used for producing xanthan gum using date syrup, prepared from low quality dates, as a substrate. Fermentation was carried out with date syrup and sucrose syrup at 28 ˚C and pH 6.8 in a rotary benmarin shaker (240 rpm). The effect of fermentation period (24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 h) on xanthan gum production was studied. The results showed that EPS concentration increase...
